  3. 1 large egg, at room temperature
  4. 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  6. 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  7. 3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon milk, divided
  8. 2 tablespoons. cocoa powder

Steps to make mini marble sponge cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a small baking dish (5 3/4 x 3 x 2") with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Beat the butter and sugar in a medium bowl with a hand mixer until light and fluffy. Then mix the eggs and vanilla.
  3. Mix about half of the flour mixture and the baking powder together. Then mix 3 tbsp. milk, then remaining flour, until combined.
  4. Mix 2 tbsp. batter in a separate bowl...this will be your chocolate batter. Pour the rest of the batter into the cake pan.
  5. There are 2 additional spoons. pasta, add 1 tbsp. remaining teaspoon. milk and cocoa powder. After mixing well, spoon the chocolate batter over the other mixture and mix with a toothpick or knife.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out almost clean with a few moist crumbs attached. After the 25 minute mark, you may want to line your baking sheet loosely with foil. Not in the original recipe, but I think mine got too brown around the edges.
  7. Once ready, place the muffin tin on a wire rack to cool completely before removing from the pan. Slice and enjoy!

You'll also find that as you gain experience and confidence, you'll increasingly improvise and adapt meals to your personal preferences as needed.
